That Bloody Fish on Your Arm...

Well I suppose it had to happen sooner or later. I had my first (slightly) negative experience as a tattooed person last week. I say negative, it wasn't actually that bad, just a bit annoying really. I was in my local pub with a few friends stood at the bar. They decided to go outside for a smoke so I stayed at the bar on my own as I'm a non smoker. There was a middle aged woman stood near to me who suddenly decided it was perfectly acceptable to lean across the bar and run her finger down my arm and say "oh, I thought it would be bumpy". I didn't make a big deal out of it as she was with her husband and was obviously a bit tipsy so I just explained that it was just like normal skin and carried on drinking my pint. I did however think it was quite rude and that if the roles had been reversed and I had done something similar to a woman I would probably have been reprimanded or forcibly removed from the premises! Having a tattoo does NOT mean that it's ok to prod and poke me like some sort of soft toy!

On a lighter note I decided to rename my blog "that bloody fish on your arm" as a reference to a comment my Mother made about my decision to get a Koi Carp tattooed on my arm. I just thought it was a great quote and needed to be used! I love my Mum very much, but she wasn't exactly over the moon about me getting tattooed and tried her hardest to talk me out of it, but hey, I guess that's what Mums do!
