3rd Session

3rd April 2012
4 Hours

Japanese koi tattoo with background shading

It's been 2 months since my last session so I was really looking forward to this one. I thought we were going to do another 3 hour session like last time and had mentally prepared for that, but I was wrong! We ended up doing 4 hours (with a few breaks thrown in).

After a quick hello Diego dived straight in to the inside of my arm, working on the remaining wind bars and waves until the background was complete. This was good as the first part of the session is always the easiest to deal with, so getting the inside arm done and out of the way while I was still in good spirits was a good idea! The first two hours flew by as we were chatting about different tattoo artists and he was telling me about being tattooed by Horiyoshi III which was cool. (These are my favourite parts of the sessions. The parts where I get to hear Diego talk about his experiences in tattooing and his views on things). The last part of the background was on my chest and on top of my shoulder. These parts were really nasty so I was glad when they were over! The last part of the session was on the koi. The scales were done with a smaller needle and on an easier part of the arm so they weren't too bad. The head however hurt like a bitch! I'm glad I didn't quit before we got to the koi as it's all starting to really come together now. Can't wait to get some colour in there!

I'll put some better pictures up when the bruising's gone down and I'm healed.
